Recommended Password format

AEMO Australian Energy Market Operator recommends following the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) guidelines for creating a secure password.

Your account is locked after six incorrect password attempts.

 

Passwords:

  • Are case sensitive.
  • Must be minimum fourteen characters long.
  • Must contain at least one character from at least three of the following four character sets:

    Examples

    English upper case letters

    A, B, C, ... Z

    English lower case letters

    a, b, c, ... z

    Numerals

    0, 1, 2, ... 9

    Non-alphanumeric ("special characters") such as punctuation symbols

    - + !
  • Do not include a space, a comma, or any of the following special characters <, >, &.
  • Expire every 90 days (equals one cycle) but you can change it before the expiry.
  • Cannot be reused in the next 12 cycles.
  • Cannot use your username or the word “password”.
